So whether you did something you should have not done or something happened to you that you had no control over one thing remains clear. The facts are the facts. Yes there can be circumstances around why you did something, but the fact that it happened remains unmovable.

Although what matters is HOW you react to something and (within reason) not what happened TO YOU is important. The facts are the facts and you must deal with this world reality. All the wishing, hoping and crying will not change what needs to be done about what has happened.

What this means is that you need to deal with the reality of the world. What that really means to you is that you need to face what is and not what you think something is. This may be a very sorrowful and bitter thing to try to do.

It is very important that you be strict with yourself. You must deal in reality.

Disconnect the cables from the battery and clean them with a wire brush that has been doused in a home made mixture [the mixture combines one tablespoon of baking soda with one cup of water]. Use this same mixture to clean off the top of the battery; use a small and clean paint brush to apply the solution where needed.

2. Lubricate the posts.

A small dab of petroleum jelly on each post will help keep your cables clean and free of corrosion longer. In addition, the jelly will make it easier for you to slip the cables back onto the battery.

3. Check connections.

Besides the connection between the cable and the posts, make sure that the battery hold down bar is securely in place. Not all cars have or need a battery hold down bar, but if yours has come so equipped, you will need to put it back in its proper place.

MALACCA: Four siblings, aged between 4 and 7, were taken away by the Welfare Department while their mother’s boyfriend was detained by police to help investigations into a suspected abuse case yesterday.

Melaka Tengah welfare officer Saidatol Aini Jafri said the children would be housed at the Tengku Budriah Children Shelter in Cheras. Their 8-month-old sister was under observation at Malacca Hospital.

She said investigations started following a tip-off about an abused baby in Batu Berendam, where welfare officers found her weak with bruises all over her body.

“Doctors are conducting a thorough medical check-up on her, while the other siblings are under our custody as the mother is not fit to take care of them,” she said at the department’s office here yesterday.

Saidatol said the 28-year-old mother was unemployed and did not have a proper home or anyone to take care of the children.

She said the department was looking for the children’s father, Muhd Khairul Ahmad Redzuan, whose last known address was No 1-02, Blok C, Jalan Megah Utama, Pontian, Johor.

“We hope their father or a relative will come to our office in Ayer Keroh to claim the children.”

Meanwhile, the mother’s boyfriend, a salesman in his 20s, was detained by the police after a report was lodged about suspected abuse.

State Criminal Investigation Deparment chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Adnan Abdullah said police picked up the man at Malacca Hospital about 11am.

“We have recovered a rotan from the suspect’s house in Taman Merdeka, Batu Berendam.”

COMMUNITY spirit was out in force during a fair at a Gloucester supermarket.

Tesco in St Oswald’s Road, hosted a choir, cheerleaders stilt walkers and stalls.

The aim was to promote how the store supports the community, including schools, churches and the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps at Innsworth.

Around 20 staff helped man stalls for charities and organisations including the Royal British Legion, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Teckels animal sanctuary and St John Ambulance.

Gloucester and District Christian Choir were also on hand to perform a selection of songs.

Tesco checkout manager Paula Headland said: “We want to get involved as much as we can.

THE parents of a young army cadet who died during a botched boating exercise on a Hebridean loch have met one of Scotland’s highest-ranking legal officers as part of their campaign for justice for their daughter.

The Solicitor-General, Frank Mulholland, travelled to Aberdeen earlier this week to meet Derek and Lesley McIntosh, the Fyvie couple whose daughter Kaylee, 14, died in August 2007.

Kaylee drowned in Loch Carnan, South Uist, when the overloaded rigid raiding craft in which she was a passenger capsized in storm-lashed seas, trapping her underneath.

The cadet officers charged with her care took 90 minutes to realise she was missing.

Her parents have accused the British Army of “murdering” their daughter and have demanded criminal charges be brought against those they hold responsible for Kaylee’s death.

Jayne Crawford, of Thompson Solicitors, the legal firm for the McIntosh family, said: “Mr Mulholland told them they were still considering the matter and criminal prosecutions.”

A spokesman for the Crown Office and Procurator-Fiscal Service said: “The health and safety division is considering the terms of the report from the procurator-fiscal in connection with whether any further proceedings should be taken.”
